Hunker down and pray!
Residents from the Carolinas north to Pennsylvania are stocking up on food, water, batteries and other emergency supplies as an unusual storm approaches.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (Catholic Online) - Residents of the eastern United States are about to be struck by a hurricane and a snowstorm, at the same time.

Hurricane Sandy, finally weakening as it moves slowly north, is threatening to make landfall anywhere between the Carolinas to New York. Simultaneously, a snowstorm is barreling south out of Canada. And from the North Atlantic, an exceptionally cold mass of air is moving to converge with the other two systems.

The media has dubbed the confluence of bad weather "Frankenstorm."

The storm will certainly bring rain, possibly snow, and very high winds. Such powerful storms rarely collide, but when they do they produce exceptionally violent weather.

The unpredictability of the weather patterns also has people worried over a wide swath of territory.

For now, people are advised to prepare, and pray.
