There are more than 2 million Girl Scouts in America today.
On Monday, the San Pedro Girl Scouts gathered at Peck Park to celebrate the organization's 100th Anniversary.

SAN PEDRO, CA (Catholic Online) - More than 100 women and girls gathered to listen to speeches and sang "Happy Birthday" to the organization as a whole.

The Girl Scouts were founded by Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low, on March 9, 1912. Low made a phone call to her cousin Nina Pape.

"Come right over! I've got something for the girls of Savanna, and all America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight," exclaimed Low during the historic phone call.

San Pedro's 333 Girl Scouts have 25 Troops in the local community.

Today, there are more than 2.3 million Girl Scouts in America with over 900,000 adult volunteers.
